| MINILS, Ilorin provides
a variety of courses to fulfill the challenging labour and industrial
needs. Distinctly, courses are designed to cater for the major all
areas of labour education, administration and management. For the
sake of administration, they are grouped as Trade Union Education
and Labour Management Relations. Short term trainings and seminars
are also customized and specifically tailored to address dynamic workplace
issues.
Long term training courses provide full time on-campus training
opportunities for any class of worker interested in labour education
or an in-depth knowledge of industrial labour relations and management.
These trainings are not only certificate oriented, but are also
aimed at providing the necessary training, skills and knowledge
for those who intend to make a career out of any branch of labour
matters. They provide a perfect basis for further education.
Efforts are in the pipeline to introduce online courses. When introduced,
interested persons will access course materials and trainings from
the comfort of their offices using the Internet as a medium. MINILS,
Ilorin intends to pioneer this system very soon.
According to the mandate of MINILS, the two main academic departments
provide comprehensive short and medium term training for nominated
officers and persons interested in labour education.
Labour Management Relations and Trade Union Education Departments
both have a primary mandate of providing the necessary education
and training on dynamic, yet volatile workplace issues of Gender,
Conflict Resolution, Staff Motivation, Empowerement, Rights and
other issues that is of common interest to both management and workers
alike. The Planning, Research & Curriculum Development (PRCD)
department takes responsibilty to do the background work in terms
of the research, planning and inturns work with the other two departments
to develop an appropriate curriculum. |
